The deadline for this payment is Monday, October 21, and so far, a large number of pilgrims have not yet completed this requirement. With only one day remaining, many are facing difficulties in arranging the funds, leading to concerns about whether the deadline will be extended. The final decision on the extension will be made today, October 21.

Final Day to Submit First Installment for Selected Pilgrims

The first installment of Rs 130,300 must be deposited by the selected pilgrims to secure their Hajj journey. This year, a total of 17,397 pilgrims from Maharashtra were chosen through the lottery system. However, out of this group, more than 10,000 pilgrims have yet to submit their payments. Previously, the first installment was Rs 81,800, making this year’s amount significantly higher and difficult for many to pay in a short time.

Due to the challenges faced by a large number of pilgrims in submitting the first installment, the Maharashtra Hajj Committee has received several requests for an extension of the deadline. A general body meeting was held at Hajj House on Saturday to discuss this issue. The final decision on whether to extend the deadline will be made today, October 21, after reviewing the current situation.

Five Essential Documents to Submit by October 23

In addition to the installment payment, selected pilgrims are required to submit five essential documents by October 23. These documents are:

  • A copy of the Hajj application form
  • A personal declaration
  • A medical certificate obtained from any government hospital
  • A photograph with a white background
  • The original receipt of the money deposited in the bank

    These documents are crucial for completing the Hajj registration process.

    Challenges Faced by Pilgrims in Submitting the Installment

    Many pilgrims have struggled to submit the required installment due to the higher amount compared to previous years. The sudden increase from Rs 81,800 to Rs 130,300 has posed a financial burden on a significant number of applicants. The Maharashtra Hajj Committee has confirmed that more than 10,000 pilgrims have yet to make their payment, although there was a heavy crowd at the Hajj Committee office over the weekend.

    Maharashtra Hajj Committee’s Response to the Delay

    The Maharashtra Hajj Committee is hopeful that most pilgrims will manage to submit the first installment on time, allowing the Hajj process to proceed smoothly. However, due to the financial strain many are facing, they have officially informed the Central Hajj Committee about the requests for an extension. The final decision on extending the deadline will be made today.

    Maharashtra’s Quota and Reserved Categories for Hajj 2024

    This year, a total of 23,397 applications were received from Maharashtra for Hajj, and a quota of 17,397 pilgrims was allotted. Within this group, there are 90 women over 45 years of age without a Mahram and 16 women over 65 years old. Additionally, 2,322 pilgrims have been placed in the reserved category for those over 65 years of age.

    The next few days are critical for the selected pilgrims as they must submit both the installment and the necessary documents to complete their registration for Hajj 2024. The decision on whether or not an extension will be granted is eagerly awaited by thousands.
